Loretta Murphy Miles

Loretta Murphy Miles, age 87, of Baxley, passed away Thursday, November 16, 2023 at Appling Healthcare.

Mrs. Miles was born August 21, 1936 in Appling County to the late John Edward Murphy and the late Lena Stanfield Murphy. She was a faithful member of Ten Mile Creek Baptist Church and was the owner of Miles Tractor Company. She was also a member of the Appling County Young Farmers. Mrs. Miles taught various Sunday school class and loved singing in the choir.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Miles was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Frank Edward Miles; sisters, Sue Nell Warren, Lola Beecher, Doris Branch, Darlene Lott, Nettie Branch, and brothers, Winton Murphy, Rozel Murphy, Orville Murphy, Doyle Murphy, and John Edsel Murphy.

Survivors include her daughters, Jana Dell Miles of Decatur, and Gretta Anne (Jeff) Lewis of Waycross; sons, Eddie (Julia) Miles of Baxley, Don Perdue Miles of Fayetteville, AR, Jon Murphy (Jackie) Miles of Tifton and Brack Frank (Pam) Miles of Baxley; sister, Roberta Thornton.

Funeral services will be held Monday, November 20, 2023 at 2:00 p.m.at Ten Mile Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Michael Sapp, Rev. Rick Brown, and Rev. James Minick officiating.

Interment will follow in Ten Mile Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Andy Segui, Cuyler Lewis, Hunter Miles, Preston Miles, David Harris and Mark Miles.

Honorary pallbearers will be the employees of Miles Tractor Company and the Daniel Sunday School Class of Ten Mile Creek Baptist Church.

Visitation will be Sunday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Swain Funeral Home.
