Alan R. Schnieber, 68 of Baxley, GA passed away peacefully Wednesday, November 1, 2023 surrounded by his loving family at Memorial Health in Savannah.

Mr. Schnieber was born February 14, 1955 in Washington, DC to the late Fred Schnieber and the late Laura Minton Schnieber.  He retired as a Flight Engineer MSGT in the United States Air Force as a flight engineer. Alan served his country with dedication in Operation Desert Storm and Desert Shield. Some of his most meaningful experiences were medical air evacuations for overseas service members and their families.

Survivors include his wife, Darlene Schnieber of Baxley; daughters, Laura Schnieber (Casey) Bruns of Minot, ND, and Krista (Jeffrey) Carter of Baxley; sister, Penny (Justin) Long of Ovilla, TX; and five grandchildren, DayLynn (Joshua) Adkins, LizAnne Schnieber-Bruns, RayAlan Schnieber, Maggie Carter and Sophie Carter also survive.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Swain Funeral Home with Rev. Justin McLellan officiating.

Interment will follow in the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville at 3:00 p.m. with Military Honors.

Active pallbearers will be Jeffrey Carter, Victor Cote, Casey Bruns, Ray Alan Schnieber, Paul Carter, and Marvin Griffis.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at Swain Funeral Home.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
