Albert Calvin Griffis

Albert Calvin Griffis, age 88 of Waycross died Thursday, November 13, 2014.

Mr. Griffis was born May 15, 1926 in Appling County to the late Ottis Lee Griffis and the late Isabele Thornton Griffis. He was a member of the Church of God in Waycross. Mr. Griffis was a veteran of the United States Army AirForce and retired from T & R Oil Company. He was preceded in death by his wives, Stella Griffis, Gertie Griffis, a daughter, Gail Byrd and 5 siblings.

Survivors include A son & daughter in law, Larry & Debra Griffis of Zebulon; Six sisters & brothers in law, Evon Byrge of Savannah, Ruth & Bob Devereaux of Callahan, Florida, Lydia & Hubert Hart of Mineral, Virginia, Kathyrn & Lonell Wright of Screven, Roxie Litton of Baxley and Linda & Bob Kimbrell of Mershon; Brother & sister in law, Colvin & Jean Griffis of Baxley; Son in law, Ray (Freda) Byrd of Waycross; Step- son, Andrew (Juanita) Sears of Waycross. 5 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, November 15, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. from the Chapel of Swain Funeral Home with Rev. Lamar Lee and Rev. Hubert Hart officiating.

Active Pallbearers are Jerry Jones, Don Griffis, Armon Griffis, Wesley Griffis, Connor Griffis, Drew Griffis and Mitch Devereaux.

Interment will follow in Antioch Congregational Christian Church Cemetery with Military Rites.

Arrangements are under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
