Bernette Dyal Miles, age 91, of Baxley, GA died Saturday, September 27, 2014, at Appling Healthcare System.
Mrs. Miles was born October 16, 1922 in Bacon County to the late Raymond Dyal and the late Nancy Turner Dyal. She was a member of Hopewell United Methodist Church and a member of the United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Miles was preceded in death by her husband, Claud J. Miles, eight sisters, Thelma Turner, Helen Dixon, Eula May Turner, Bernice Andrews, Ethel Cooper, Mary Fortner, Emily Vaughn, and Annie Kennamer; three brothers, Jonah Dyal, Jay Dyal, and Clarence Dyal. Mrs. Miles was a resident of Appling County for 55 years.
Survivors include two daughters, Claudine (Kendall) Mills and Sandy (Gary) Thomas both of Baxley; one grandchild, Brian Lee (Bea) Mills of Richmond Hill, GA; and two great grandchildren, Grayson and Madelyn Mills of Richmond Hill, GA.
Funeral services will be held Monday, September 29, 2014 at 2:00 PM from Hopewell United Methodist Church with Rev. Buddy Coss and Rev. Creig Smith officiating. Mrs. Mills will lie in state for one hour prior to the funeral hour.
Active pallbearers are Bill Hyers, Jerry Hyers, Kenneth Vaughn, Jay Dyal, Lance Dyal, Stephen Dyal, and Leonard Clarke.
Visitation will be held Sunday evening, September 28th, from 6:00-8:00 PM.
Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
