Bernice Clyde Miles, Jr.

Bernice Clyde Miles, Jr, age 83, of Baxley passed away Friday, March 14, 2025 at his residence.

Mr. Miles was born January 19, 1942 in Appling County to the late Bernice Clyde Miles, Sr. and the late Sarah Elizabeth Mock Miles. Preceding him in death was his wife, Donna Yawn Miles, son, Robert Dwayne Miles, a sister, Sarah Gwinette White, brothers-in-law, John Homer Ware and J. W. White.

Mr. Miles graduated from Appling County High School as a member of the Class of 1960. He retired from Hazlehurst Mills after 42 years of service and received many awards recognizing his accomplishments during his tenure. He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed working in his yard. Many people passing by his home would comment about how they looked forward to seeing him on the mower and the outstanding job he did, even after he began having health issues. Mr. Miles loved people and enjoyed talking to those he met. He would always make them laugh. He touched many lives by his kindness and friendliness. He will be missed by his family and everyone who knew him and his memory will live on in their hearts forever. Mr. Miles believed in God and was always thanking Him for blessing himself and his family.

Survivors include his daughter, Brenda Kay (Mike) Taylor of Yulee, FL; sons, Lamar Miles of Fernandina Beach, FL, Michael Shane Miles of Broxton, Justin Scott Miles of Valdosta, and Jonathan Skyler Miles of Baxley; grandchildren, Harley Taylor (Zachery) of Yulee, FL, Marcus Nail of Baxley, Maizy Miles of Atlanta, Levi Miles of Eastman, Shea Miles, Trinity Miles, Kayla Elizabeth Miles, and Dillon Miles all of Baxley, Kimberly (Matthew) Walker and Kelly Girtman both of Hazlehurst; great grandchildren, Taylor & Ty Anderson, Graham Walker, Tabor Raine and Orion Alucard Kimmons; a sister, Annette M. Ware; sisters-in-law, Judy (Smitty) Williams, Gwen (James Edward) Turner, Latrelle Yawn, and Latrisha Yawn; and brothers-in-law, Royce (Frances) Yawn and Randy (Janice) Yawn.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 20, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Swain Funeral Home with Pastor Darron Jackson officiating. Interment will follow in Miles Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Colin Haddock, Levi Miles, Dakota Jenkins, Marcus Nail, Jeremy Clark, Kris Covington, and Zachery Anderson.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
