Betty Mcdonald

Betty McDonald, a native and long time resident of Baxley, died Thursday, May 1, 2014 in Dallas, Texas as the age of 84.

Mrs. McDonald was born July 1, 1929 in Baxley, Georgia to the late Emmett Mock and the late Sallie Hardwick Mock and was the widow of the late Robert Way McDonald. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Baxley where she served on the administrative council and was a member of the United Methodist Women. She worked at Baxley Federal Savings Bank for 31 years achieving the position of Vice President before her retirement. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Mock and two aunts, Grace Hardwick and Carey Hardwick.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Carlin & Charles W. Morris of Dallas, TX and Lisa & Robert G. Kupper of Paducah, KY; grandchildren, Caitlin Hyatt & her husband, William Michael Hyatt of Dallas, TX, Jennifer Ray & her husband, Luther Beebe Ray, IV of Pompano Beach, FL, Charles R. Morris & his wife Lindsay Morris of Dallas, TX, and Jillian Yi and her husband Ung Chang Yi of Frisco, TX; four great grandchildren and a fifth great grandchild expected in September. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 17, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. from the First United Methodist Church of Baxley.

Interment will follow in Omega Cemetery.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service in the Family Life Center of the First United Methodist Church.

Honorary pallbearers: All friends in attendance of the funeral service

Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, 217 S. Main Street Baxley, Georgia 31513.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
