Carolyn L. Werner, age 89, of Baxley passed away Wednesday, October 2, 2024 at Memorial Health in Savannah.

Mrs. Werner was born October 9, 1934 and was a native of Appling County. She was the devoted daughter of the late Robert Rutherford “Rufus” Lott and the late Marie Ellis Lott. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Miles Arthur Werner and her two brothers, Rev. Robert “Bob” Lott and James Lott.

Mrs. Werner was a faithful member of First Baptist Church and the Friends in Faith Sunday School Class. She was retired from Akzo Nobel and was a member of the Pilot Club and Pine Forrest Garden Club. She loved to travel and bird watching but was most known for her cooking. She loved her family, including all her nieces and nephews, and especially enjoyed cooking her famous dressing, tea cakes, and fudge for them. 

Survivors include her daughter, Laura Jean Werner of Muscadine, Alabama; son, Robert Niles Werner of Easley, South Carolina; sisters-in-law, Carolyn M. Lott of Baxley and Gene M. Lott of Macon; caregiver, Sharon Hallman of Baxley; and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 6, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. from First Baptist Church with Rev. Fred Anderson and Rev. Robert Wigley officiating. Interment will follow in Midway Baptist Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Philip Lott, Jeff Lott, Jason Lott, Sloan Lott, Jackson Lott, Shafer Lott, and Lott Murray.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Friends in Faith Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at First Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to First Baptist Church 15 N. Main Street Baxley, Georgia 31513.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
