Colvin Griffis

April 6, 1940 — February 20, 2022

Isaac Colvin Griffis, age 81, of Odum passed away Sunday, February 20, 2022 in Jacksonville, Florida.

Mr. Griffis was born April 6, 1940 in Appling County to the late Ottis Lee Griffis and the late Isabelle Thornton Griffis. Before retirement, he was a supervisor at Rayonier. Mr. Griffis was a member of Baxley Church of God, the Georgia Sheriff’s Association, Appling County Touchdown Club, National Rifle Association, and was an avid Pirate fan and supporter.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Griffis was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Long Griffis; daughter, Pamela Griffis Kinchen; and siblings, Raymond Griffis, Curtis Griffis, Albert Griffis, Valerie Jones, Vinnie Graham, Ruth Devereaux, and Leottie Thornton.

Survivors include his wife, Jean Dykes-Griffis of Baxley; sons and daughters-in-law, Isaac Matthew “Matt” & Jan Griffis, Timothy Colvin “Tim” & Tammy Griffis, Daniel Andrew “Drew” & Anslee Griffis, Gary & Janet Dykes, and Jeff Dykes, all of Baxley; sisters & brothers-in-law, Evon Byrge of Savannah, Lydia (Rev. Hubert) Hart of Mineral, VA, Kathyrn (Lonell) Wright of Screven, Roxie Litton of Baxley, and Linda (Bob) Kimbrell of Mershon; Grandchildren, Brittany Roberson, Ashley (Jim) Perry, Zack (Aaryn) Griffis, Gracie Griffis, Brandon Griffis, Ben Griffis, Amanda Love, Katie (Jeremy) Wiggins, and Kylie (Jared) Fields; great grandchildren, Jax Griffis, Colt Wiggins, Case Wiggins, Jaxton Fields, and Ember Fields; a host of nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at Baxley Church of God at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Lamar Lee, Rev. Mark Ledbetter, and Rev. Rick Brown officiating.

Interment will follow in Big Creek Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Zack Griffis, Brandon Griffis, Ben Griffis, Marc Devereaux, Don Griffis, and Armon Griffis.

Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Baxley Church of God.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
