Cynthia Beth Atkins

Cynthia Beth Atkins, age 76, of Odum passed away January 6, 2025 at the Pavilion under the care of Comfort Care Hospice.

Mrs. Atkins was born August 20, 1948 in Appling County, to the late Hiram Lightsey and the late Loretta Bullard Lightsey. She was a school bus driver for the Appling County Board of Education. She was a faithful member of the Zion Church of God for many years. She enjoyed gardening and dearly loved her children and grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Atkins, Sr.; and two sons, Ronald Atkins, Jr. and Lance Atkins.

Survivors include her daughters, Christy Atkins (Jon) Mead of Baxley, and Rhonda Conley of Vidalia; son, Hiram Mark (Marla) Atkins of Baxley; sister, Elaine Lightsey of Baxley; and brother, Lowell Lightsey of Atlanta. Nine grandchildren and several great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 9, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Church of God with Rev. Danny Horne officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. 

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the time of service.

Active pallbearers will be Ryan Perry, Bryan Perry, Larramie Boatright, Colby Kent, Josh Boatright, and Jamie Boatright.

Honorary pallbearers will be Carrie Futch, Ronnie and Shirley Thornton, James and Jill Boatright, Wallace Lightsey and W. R. Lightsey, Celeste Newkirk, Jeff and Cheryl Murray, Jessie Lightsey, Bill and Sheri Roberts, Bernie and Derita Kent, Mike and Sandra Spivey, Terry and Arlene Boatright, Jerry & Nancy Boatright, Larry & Donna Boatright, Pete and Naomi Fowler, Steve and Gail Parrott, Rhonda Carter, C-Hall Staff at Appling Pavilion and all friends in attendance.
