Dalton C. Fowler

Dalton C. Fowler, age 78, of Baxley died Monday, December 16, 2013 in The Pavilion.


Mr. Fowler was born April 6, 1935 in Appling County and was the son of the late Joel Dalton Fowler and the late Katie Carter Fowler & stepmother, Mildred Fowler. He was a member of Zion Church of God and was a 1954 graduate of Surrency High School. Mr. Fowler was a devoted & loving husband, father & grandfather. He worked with the Appling County Road Department and also knew how to earn an extra dollar in so many ways from selling carpet, furniture, produce, batteries or picking up pecans and farming. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vetanell Ahl Fowler and 2 sisters, Frances Herrin and Dorothy McBride.


Survivors include his son & daughter in law, Lee & Lori Fowler of Baxley; Grandchildren, Caleb, Calyn & Caitlyn all of Baxley; a special nephew, Ritchie & Gwen Sharpe & children, Tadd Sharpe & Lynn Sharpe; 4 sisters, Ima Deen (Tom) Herrin, Martha Pearl Contos, Velma Ruth Griffin & Linda (Aaron) Hutcheson; 2 brothers, John (Marty) Fowler & Arthur (Annette) Lightsey; 1 brother in law, James (Myrna) Herrin.


Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 19, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. from Zion Church of God with the Rev. J. Stephen Statum, Rev. Ronnie Rentz and a eulogy by Lee Fowler. Mr. Fowler will lie in state one hour prior to funeral service.


Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery


Active Pallbearers are Caleb Fowler, Ritchie Sharpe, Tadd Sharpe, Greg Herrin, Jeff Herrin and Thon Herrin.


Honorary Pallbearers are staff of The Pavilion and all friends in attendance.


Visitation will be Wednesday evening 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Swain Funeral Home.


Arrangements are under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
