Damon Lester Murphy

Damon Lester Murphy, age 60, of Baxley died Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at his residence.

Mr. Murphy was born April 10, 1955 in Appling County. He was a member of Sand Hill Creek Free Will Baptist Church and was a member of River Keepers. Mr. Murphy was a retired Field Engineer with Utility Consultants, Incorporated. He was preceded in death by his father, Rozel John Murphy and a daughter, Faith Cain.

Survivors include his wife, Candy Carter Murphy of Baxley; A daughter & son in law, Rebecca & Jarrod Petersen of St. Mary's; Two step sons, Malcolm James Evans II of Baxley and Clinton Carter Evans of Brunswick; Mother, Mary Sue Callaway Murphy of Baxley; Sister & brother in law, Barbara & Mickey Orvin of Baxley; Granddaughter, Farrah Faith Petersen and nephews, Brandon (Hailey) Orvin and Justin (Lauren) Orvin.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, May 23, 2015 from the Chapel of Swain Funeral Home with Bishop Randy Sellers, Rev. Bobby Brinkley and Rev. Karl Sexton officiating.

Interment will follow in Ten Mile Creek Baptist Church-Veal Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday evening 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at Swain Funeral Home.

Active pallbearers are Brandon Orvin, Justin Orvin, Willie Beecher, Wink Branch, Ulrik (Rick) Solomon, Larry Evans, Malcom Evans & Jarrod Petersen.


Honorary Pallbearers are all friends in attendance.
