David "Doodlebug" Carter, age 80, of Surrency died Saturday, August 9, 2014, at the Pavilion.
Mr. Carter was born November 10, 1933, in Baxley, Georgia to the late Robert Carter and the late Elma Carter of Surrency. Mr. Carter served his country in the United State Army and retired from Georgia Department of Transportation as a civil engineer. He was owner and operator of Carter's Service Station. He was a lifetime resident of Appling County.
Survivors include two Daughters, Darlene (Alan) Schnieber of Baxley, GA and Tammy Carter of Savannah, GA; one Sister, Janice Rozar of Baxley, GA and one Brother, Tim Carter of Swainsboro, GA. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Krista Stone Carter of Baxley and Keith Passmore of Savannah, GA; and two Great Grandchildren. He is preceded in death by two brothers , Nathan Carter and Joe Carter.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, August 12, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at Surrency City Cemetery with Rev, Carl Rowell officiating.
Visitation will be Monday evening, August 11, 2014, 6-8 p.m., at Swain Funeral Home.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
