David L. "D.L." Thomas

David Lee “D.L.” Thomas, age 93, of Baxley passed away Wednesday, September 23, 2020 at Appling Healthcare System.

Mr. Thomas was born April 22, 1927 in Doctortown, Georgia to the late Dillard Thomas and the late Chapel Mae Rowell Thomas. He was retired from Merritt Dredging as a Chief Engineer and he was a World War II Veteran of the United States Merchant Marines. Mr. Thomas was a member and deacon of Woodlawn Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Thomas is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Leggett Thomas, and three brothers, Curtis Thomas, Lester Thomas, and Vester Thomas.

Survivors include his son & daughter in law, David W. and Barbara Thomas of Hull; stepdaughter, Linda McLain of Stockbridge; a sister, Nell Sapp of Baxley and brother, Ray (Doris) Thomas of Savannah. Four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren also survive.

A graveside service was will be held Friday, September 25, 2020 at Ten Mile Creek Baptist Church Cemetery at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Sean Thomas and Rev. Tommy Daniels officiating.

Active Pallbearers will be Charles Stone, Bruce Carson, Greg Thomas, Bobby Brown, Dale Sapp, and Jeremy Sapp.

Honorary Pallbearers will be the Deacons of Woodlawn Baptist Church.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
