Donald Douglas "Bud" Stoner, age 87, of Baxley, died Saturday, December 13, 2014.
Mr. Stoner was born September 28, 1927 in Ball Ground, Georgia to the late Andrew Clayton Stoner and the late Lao Cook Stoner. He was a member of First Baptist Church. Mr. Stoner was a retired Teacher & School Administrator for the Appling County Board of Education. He enjoyed his long retirement years spending time with his family, especially grandchildren, camping all over the Southeast, playing golf and cheering for the Georgia Bulldogs. Mr. Stoner served in the United States Air Force.
Survivors include his wife, Pat McLean Stoner of Baxley;2 daughters, Suzy Mercer of Baxley & Laury Sikes & husband, David, of Lawrenceville; 5 grandchildren, Logan Mercer, Whitney McGouyrk, Haley Mercer, Emily Sikes, Olivia Sikes and 2 great grandchildren, Jace Williams and Abby McGouyrk; Sister, Doris McHan of Ball Ground; Sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Cheryl & Winston Collins and Lucille McLean Parham.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 16, 2014, at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Wigley, Rev. Jill Jenkins & Rev. Winston Collins officiating.
Interment will follow in Stewart Family Cemetery in Bacon County.
Visitation will be Monday evening 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at Swain Funeral Home.
Arrangements were under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
