Dorothy Ann Craven Courson

Baxley

Dorothy Ann Craven Courson, age 80, of Baxley passed away on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at her residence surrounded by her loving family and under the care of Hospice of South Georgia. 

Mrs. Ann was born December 19, 1943 in McRae to the late J. P. Pipkin and the late Bernice Joyce Pipkin. She was a member of Midway Baptist Church and was a cashier at Wal-Mart. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother and a very special friend to everyone who knew her. Mrs. Ann’s favorite past times were being in her yards or at ballfields cheering her favorite teams, which usually consisted of her children and grandchildren. She was a fighter to the end. 

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Ronnie Craven and Jimmy Courson, a great granddaughter, Libby Hutchinson; and a brother, Harry Pipkin.

Survivors include her daughters, Lynn (Dannie) Beecher and Marsha (Randy) Thomas both of Baxley and Tracey Craven (Ed Beaty) of Savannah; son, Steve (Pam) Craven of Baxley; nine grandchildren, Brooks Craven, Dustin (Devin) Hutchinson, Cody (Makaela) Thomas, Ronnie Aaron (Michaelin) White, Cole Thomas, Chase Thomas, Kaylin White, Alexis Stone, and Peighton (Ben) Thomason; eight great grandchildren, one great-great grandson; and special friends, Betty Thomas, Brenda Carter, and Frances Johnson. 

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 13, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Swain Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Williamson and Mr. Roy McClung officiating with a eulogy by Steve Craven. 

Interment will follow in Midway Baptist Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers Brooks Craven, Dustin Hutchinson, Cody Thomas, Ronnie Aaron White, Cole Thomas, Chase Thomas, Al Marsh and Stan Harris.

Honorary pallbearers will be all friends and family in attendance.

The visitation will be Thursday evening, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., at Swain Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers remembrances may be made to Hospice of South Georgia 42 W Weaver Street, Baxley, GA 31513.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
