Duane Nelson Westberry

Duane Nelson Westberry, age 76, of Surrency passed away Saturday, January 7, 2023.

Mr. Westberry was born on July 3, 1946 in Surrency, Georgia to the late Nelson David Westberry and the late Lula Elizabeth Devereaux Westberry.  He was a veteran of the United States Marines having served in the Vietnam War and was retired from ITT Rayonier after nearly 40 years of service. Mr. Westberry loved his cats and enjoyed reading and watching westerns. He was preceded in death by a brother, Dorval Westberry; sister, Genieve Fontenot and son-in-law, John Rosevear.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Westberry of Surrency; a daughter, Barbie Rosevear of Monroe; and a grandson, Nelson Blalock of Monroe.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 14, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Friendship Baptist Church in Wayne County with Rev. Kevin Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Nelson Blalock, Jeffery Griffin, Javan Flowers, Jared Flowers, Glynn Pearce and Kevin Westberry.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers remembrances may be made to Friendship Baptist Church or any veteran organization.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
