Earseline Mclean

April 17, 1936 — February 12, 2022

Earseline Mclean, a loving mother and grandmother and great grandmother passed away Saturday night, February 12, 2022 at the age of 85 years old.  Born on April 17th,1936,  she was one of nine siblings to parents Usthas Hamilton and Willel Johnson in the parish of Manchester, Jamaica, West Indies where she grew up. As an adult, Earseline worked as a housekeeper and cared for her only child, daughter Maisie Powell Burton.

In her early 20’s, Earseline moved to another parish, Kingston Jamaica where she continued to work as a housekeeper and met Ronald Mclean who became her husband in 1972. Earseline remained married until the year 2001 when her husband Ronald Mclean passed away.

In her early 40’s, Earseline migrated to the Bahamas where she worked in a hotel as a housekeeper for twelve years. While working in the Bahamas, Earseline gave her life to the Lord and became a Seventh-day Adventist and remained faithful to the Lord until her last breath. Earseline lived an adventurous life and was always seeking out new and better opportunities that would benefit her and her family.

After her years in the Bahamas, Earseline migrated to the United States of America where she became a Home Health Aid. Earseline never stopped aspiring to improve her knowledge and education. While being a home health aide, she took classes and received a certificate of completion in computer literacy. Earseline joined the Emmaus Seventh-day Adventist Church in Brooklyn, New York where she became a deaconess serving the church and the community. While at Emmaus SDA, Earseline remained a deaconess and became an honorary deaconess for life. She later relocated and became a member of the East New York Seventh-day Adventist church, where she was dearly loved as well.

Earseline is survived by her sister, Daphne; and brothers,  Callie and Denzel. Her daughter Maisie Powell Burton and husband Lynford Burton; grandchildren, Marlon Burton and wife Lakiesha Burton, Steve Burton and wife Stacy Burton, Patrice Burton-Ashley and husband Orville Ashley, Sherrie Bradshaw and husband Borace Bradshaw and Damion Burton and wife Candice Burton; great grandchildren, Collen Ashley, Alexandra Ashley, Shain Burton, Shamar Burton, Malina Burton, Joshua Burton and Anais Burton. Earseline also has a church family whose lives she impacted greatly and who had a great impact on her life as well. A host of nieces and nephews also survive.

What is inspiring is that Earseline was a praying woman. She never stopped praying for her family especially her grand and great grandchildren and also for her church family. She is and will be dearly missed. We look forward to that day when all tears will be dried, no more sorrow and we will see grandma, gramz again with our friends and loved ones living eternally with Jesus.  May  your soul rest in peace until that day.
