Edwin "Dale" Walker

Edwin Dale Walker, age 70, of Baxley passed away Saturday, March 29, 2025 at his residence.

Mr. Walker was born November 9, 1954 in Jacksonville, Florida to the late Bo Walker and the late Juanita Carter Walker. He was a member of Ferry Road Baptist Church. Mr. Walker worked for the paper company and orange packing plant in Jacksonville before moving to Baxley. He enjoyed playing any type of guitar.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Walker was preceded in death by his sisters, Kathy Walker and Judy Walker; brother, Randy Walker; and parents-in-law, Hovis and Bessie Lou Hand.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Sue Walker of Baxley; daughters, Shonda Giddens of Baxley and Nancy (Nestor) Guerrero Nestor of Bradenton, FL; sisters-in-law, Bertha Mae Hand, Katheren (Frankie) Giddens, Nancy (Alan) Larsen; brothers-in-law, Junior (Faye) Hand, John (Pam) Hand, Carlis (Piety) Hand and Carroll (Janie) Hand; Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 3, 2025 at Ferry Road Baptist Church at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Darron Jackson and Mr. James Dixon officiating. 

Interment will follow in Philadelphia Methodist Church Cemetery in Jeff Davis County.

Active pallbearers will be Josh Giddens, Dustin Larsen, Jeremey Norwood, Ivey Herrington, George Herrington, Carlis Hand and David Wolfe.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of Ferry Road Baptist Church and the staff of Dr. Robert Pumpelly’s office.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
