Elias Hobson “Hoppy” Craven, Jr., age 83, died Saturday, September 10, 2022 at Community Hospice in Vidalia.
Mr. Craven was born on April 3, 1939 in Ware County to the late Elias Hobson Craven, Sr. and the late Madge Tuten Craven. He was a member of Satilla Missionary Baptist Church and a member of the Georgia Young Farmers. He was a farmer and worked at the family-owned business, Morris & Sons Feed Mill. Mr. Craven was a licensed real estate agent and owner of Sweet Magic Real Estate. He also served on the Red Oak Volunteer Fire Department.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 59 ½ years, Patricia Ann Morris Craven.
Survivors include his sons & daughters-in-law, Jeffrey & Cathy Craven of Monroe and Rick & Amy Craven of Cumming; grandchildren, Patricia Ann (Sam) Williams of Monroe and Jeffrey Hobson Craven, Jr. (fiancé, Drew Boyett) of Baxley, Reagan Louise Craven and Brooklyn Kennedy Craven both of Cumming, and Chris Eason of Baxley.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Swain Funeral Home with Rev. Scottie Pitts & Calvin Morris officiating.
Interment will follow in Deen Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Jeffrey H. Craven, Jr., Sam Williams, Henry Morris, Keith Morris, Dr. Kyle Morris, and Shane Branch.
Honorary pallbearers will be all friends in attendance.
Visitation will be Monday, September 12, 2022 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Swain Funeral Home and Tuesday morning from 11:30 am until the funeral hour.
Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice 904 Mt. Vernon Rd., Vidalia, GA 30474.
Arrangements are under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
