Eloise Mcdowell

Eloise Crapps Crosby McDowell, age 96, of Baxley, passed away Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at her residence under the care of Comfort Care Hospice.

Mrs. McDowell was born October 25, 1926 in Appling County to the late Jake Carter O’Quinn Crapps and the late Eudell Crosby Crapps.  She was a member of Faith Baptist Church and a retired Certified Nursing Assistant. She was also a member of the DAR and UDC. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, J. W. Vernon McDowell, two sons & a daughter-in-law, Richard & Louise McDowell and Durwood McDowell, and son-in-law, David Sanchez.

Survivors include her daughters, Dianne McDowell Sanchez of Maggie Valley, NC and Verna Louise McDowell Mincey of Baxley. Fifteen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 7, 2023 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Swain Funeral Home with Rev. Phil Keeter officiating. Interment will follow in Satilla Baptist Church Cemetery.

Honorary pallbearers will be Randy Helms, Donald Sanchez, and all friends in attendance.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service.
