Emily Mae Smith

Emily Mae Smith, age 83, of Baxley passed away Sunday, September 12, 2021 at Appling Healthcare.

Miss Smith was born on November 11, 1937 in Offerman, Pierce County, Georgia.  She was the seventh and last child of Alfred Goodrich Smith and Nora Cason Smith.  She lived most of her life in Baxley, later moving with her sister Mary to Bremen, GA, where she attended Waco Baptist Church.  She then moved back to Baxley and was a resident of the Pavilion until her death.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Mina Smith Aspinwall and Mary Smith Jackson, brothers, Fred Smith, Walter Smith and Leroy Smith.

Survivors include her sister, Nora Smith Amos of Darien, 14 nieces and nephews: Ruth Johnson, Jimmy Aspinwall, Marsha Jackson Vincent, Jill Smith Dasher, Cheryl Smith Tillman, Connie Smith, Sharon Smith Miller, Sandra Smith Hukill, Dale Smith, Pamela Smith, Susan Smith, Chris Amos, David Amos and Joni Amos Brooker. Numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews also survive.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, September 16, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Appling Memorial Gardens with Rev. Brian Brazzell officiating.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at Swain Funeral Home.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
