Ethelyne (Sikes) Hunter

August 29, 1936 — September 5, 2020

Ethelyne Sikes Hunter, age 84, of Palm Coast, Florida died Saturday, September 5, 2020 at her residence under the care of Kindred Hospice.

Mrs. Hunter was born August 29, 1936 in Baxley, Georgia to the late Oscar Benjamin Sikes, Sr. and the late Tempie Jane Smith Sikes. She was a former book keeper with Associated Consumers and a former Child Care Worker with Community Christian School.  She attended Dunn Memorial Baptist Church in Baxley and Trinity Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hunter was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Charles Nuburn “Chuck” Hunter; a daughter, Tempie Kathleen Hunter; and grandchildren, Suzy Lynnette Nelms and Idalia Lasha “Dolly” Nelms.

Survivors include her daughters, Lynn Simmons of Summerdale, AL, Tammy Justice of Hampton, GA, Emily Hunt of Palm Coast, FL, Debbie Hunter and Rebecca Hunter both of McDonough, GA; son, Larry Hunter of Columbus, GA; grandchildren, Adrian Nelms of Austin, TX, Carol Hunter Hartzell of Columbus, GA, David Hunter of Montgomery, AL, Samuel Hunter of Columbus, GA, Lee Justice, Jr. of Senoia, GA, Stephen Justice of Hampton, GA, Robert Hunt of Jacksonville, FL, & Rachael Anderson of Durham, NC; great grandchildren, Bryton Hunter McClain and Chloe Hartzell both of Columbus, GA, Kaylen Nance, Mason Nance, and Cierra Justice all of Senoia, GA; brother Donnie Sikes, Sr. of Baxley; and many nieces & nephews.

A private family funeral service will be held Wednesday at Dunn Memorial Baptist Church with Rev. Rick Brown & Rev. Doug Weisel officiating. Interment will be at Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Active Pallbearers will be Robert Hunt, Lee Justice, Jr., Stephen Justice, Adrian Nelms, Samuel Hunter, & David Hunter.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Larry Hunter, Wendell Simmons, David Hunt, & Larry Justice, Sr.

In lieu of flowers remembrances may be made to any Hospice organization, Gideons International, or Truckstop Ministries of America.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
