Evelyn Chauncey

Mrs. Evelyn Chauncey, age 84, of Baxley died Monday, October 13, 2014 in the Pavilion.
Mrs. Chauncey was born April 2, 1930 in Wray, Georgia to the late Pleasant Leon Jowers, Sr. and the late Amanda Lane Jowers. She was a member of Zoar Baptist Church. Mrs. Chauncey taught music in Tattnall and Appling Counties. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Raymond Chauncey, Sr.
Survivors include her two daughters, Harriet McCoy and Betty Sauls both of Baxley; Son, Ray Chauncey of Baxley; Two sisters in law, Mary Jowers of Wray and Lois Thornton of Jesup; 10 grandchildren, James (Ksena) McCoy, Matt (Erin) McCoy, Tom McCoy, Stephen (Nicki) Sauls, Mark (Sarah) Sauls, Jake Sauls, Yates (Tricia) Chauncey, Carmen (Kevin) Spell, Sierra (Josh) Spencer , Chynna Chauncey & 16 great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at 3:00 P.M. from the Chapel of Swain Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Wigley officiating.
Interment will follow in Omega Cemetery.
Active pallbearers are James McCoy, Matt McCoy, Tom McCoy, Stephen Sauls, Mark Sauls, Jake Sauls and Yates Chauncey.
Visitation will be one hour prior to funeral service.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
