George Collins, Jr.

George Collins, Jr., age 78, of Baxley passed away Thursday, October 5, 2023 at Memorial Satilla Health in Waycross.

Mr. Collins was born January 3, 1945 in Albany, Georgia to the late George Collins and the late Lillian Batts Collins.  He was a member of Memorial Free Will Baptist Church.  He was a veteran of the United States Navy and was a retired Sewing Machine Mechanic. Mr. Collins was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Joyce Collins.

Survivors include his daughter, Sheila Collins of Baxley; son, Carey Collins of Brunswick; sisters, Patricia Peterson of Camarillo, California and Linda Raine of Weed, California; and a brother, Larry Collins of Decatur, Alabama. Five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at 11:00 am from the Chapel of Swain Funeral Home with Rev. Jonathan Mann and Rev. Kenny Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Cody Rigdon, Micah Avera, Blake Beecher, Kevin Carter, Wesley Johnson and Ryan Johnson.

Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Swain Funeral Home.
