Gwenell Wommack Austin

Mrs. Gwenell Elizabeth Wommack Austin, age 67, of Denton, GA died Thursday, November 24, 2022 at her residence.

Mrs. Austin was born on February 14, 1955, in Hazlehurst, Georgia to the late Ralph and Lois Watson Wommack. She was a retired beautician and was preceded in death by her son, Luke Austin and two granddaughters, Lauren and Lindsey Austin.

Survivors include her husband, John Austin of Denton; son, Matt and (Cindy) Austin of Broxton; three sisters, Glenda Morris of Hazlehurst, Anice Peeler of North Augusta, SC and Lynette Warnock of Hazlehurst: father and mother in law, S.G. and Ila Austin of Denton one brother; Gerald Wommack of Hazlehurst and two grandchildren, Hannah and Kaci Austin.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 27, 2022, at 3:00 pm at Union Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Merle Webster officiating.

Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Dane Ussery, Ronnie Hayes, Phillip Knowles, Jimmy Snipes, Howard Walker, Glenn Brown, David Foskey, Johnny Faulk and Mike Creech.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
