Herbert H. Hunter, Sr

Herbert Hunter, Sr., age 79, of Baxley died Saturday, July 25, 2015 at his residence.
Mr. Hunter was born October 23, 1935 in Appling County to the late Henry Hunter and the late Luna Hunter. He was a member of Midway Baptist Church, a retired farmer and owner and founder of The Hunter Opry House. He loved his family, friends and fishing. Mr. Hunter was preceded in death by his wife Helen Beecher Hunter.
Survivors include one daughter, Chanda Middleton (Mike) of Brunswick, GA; two sons, Herb Hunter, Jr. (Teresa) of Baxley, GA, Chuck Hunter (Heather) of Richmond Hill, GA; one sister, Francis Collins of Olar, South Carolina; two brothers, Milton Hunter and B.F. Hunter both of Baxley, GA.; eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Monday, July 27, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Midway Baptist Church with Rev. Rick Brown, Rev. Darrell Quinn and Rev. Wayne Williamson officiating.
Visitation will be Monday, July 27, 2015 10:00-11:00 AM at Midway Baptist Church.
Interment will follow in Midway Baptist Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers are: Shaun Hunter, Christopher Hunter, Cash Cox, Ricky Hunter, Kevin Hunter, Michael Hunter, John Hunter and Adam Hunter.
Honorary pallbearers are: The Hunter Opry House Band and Staff, Midway Baptist Senior Adult Classes, Caroline Anderson, Millie Alls, Beverly Rivers, and all friends and family in attendance.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
