Herman "Dewey" Courson, age 69, of Douglas died Sunday, August 8, 2021 at Coffee Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Courson was born October 23, 1951 in Alma to the late Willis Eugene Courson and the late Carrie Colleen Martin Courson. He was a painter and was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church. He was also preceded in death by his son, Michael.
Survivors include his sister, Sandra Sharpe of Douglas; brother and sister-in-law, Dwight & Janice Courson of Baxley; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Rick Brown and Rev. Darrell Quinn officiating.
Active pallbearers will be Chris Courson, Casey Courson, Wade Cain, Randy Martin, Scottie Turner, and Cody Rigdon.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Gideons International (P.O. Box 403 Baxley, Georgia 31515).
Due to Covid-19, all attendees are asked to please follow the rules of social distancing and face masks are recommended at the service. Also, anyone that does not feel comfortable with attending the service, the family would like you to know they understand and covet your prayers.
Arrangements are under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
