Alvin Hunter Wood Jr., age 70, of Baxley died Tuesday, September 23, 2014.
Hunter Wood was born April 5, 1944 in Oak Ridge, Tennessee to the late Alvin Hunter Wood Sr. and Janice Burton Wood. He was a member of First Methodist Church of Baxley. Hunter was a Rural Mail Carrier in Baxley for 31 years. As an avid fisherman, he enjoyed fishing in the Altamaha River and local ponds. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Hunter is survived by his wife of 44 years, Ann McLain Wood and two children, Burton "Tate" Wood and Marisa "Shann" Thomas. Hunter was a devoted grandfather of two grandchildren, Tatum Rae Wood and Hunter Christian Thomas.
Survivors also include his siblings, Marie (Alan) Gillingham, Lanette (Joe) Ferguson, and Butch Wood along with many caring friends and neighbors.
Memorial services may be held at a later date.
