Joseph Franklin (J.F.) Griffin, Sr., age 71, of Baxley died Thursday, March 27, 2014 at his residence.
Mr. Griffin was born May 22, 1942 in Appling County and was the son of the late Frank Griffin & Mary Idell Leggett Griffin. He was a member of Red Oak Baptist Church. Mr. Griffin retired from Local 709 Structural Ironworkers. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Carroll Ray Griffin and Johnny Israel Griffin.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Dianne Roberson Griffin of Baxley; Daughter, Becky Griffin Murray of Baxley; Son & Daughter in Law, Jeffery & Pam Griffin of Martinez; 6 Sisters, Wilma Sweatt, Wanell Parker, Janie Batten all of Alma, Maxie Martin of Waynesboro, Kay Moore & Charlotte Gruber both of Alma; Brother, Henry Griffin of Waynesboro. 5 grandchildren, Houston Griffin, Hannah Griffin, Alannah Griffin, Brock Murray, Jamie Murray and special friend his dog, Jay.
Funeral services will be Sunday, March 30, 2014 at 3:00 P.M. from Red Oak Baptist Church with the Rev. Ron Ross, Rev. Owen Waters, Rev. Robbie Gill and Rev. Daniel Harris officiating. Mr. Griffin will lie in state one hour prior to funeral service.
Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be Saturday evening 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at Swain Funeral Home.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
