James Donald Davis

James Donald Davis, age 95, of Baxley passed away Wednesday, December 25, 2024 at his residence under the care of Hospice of South Georgia.

Mr. Davis was born February 15, 1929 in Appling County to the late James Boyce Davis and the late Bonnie Smith Davis. He was a member of First Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and was active in the Joy Group. Mr. Davis was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was a member of the Exchange Club of Appling County and was a bailiff at the Appling County Courthouse. He was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Wendell & Joyce Davis and a son-in-law, Kenny Murray.

Survivors include his wife of 72 years, Carolyn McCall Davis of Baxley; daughters, Carole (Hilton) Smith of Nicholls and Marianne Murray of Baxley; brother, Robert “Bobby” (Helen) Davis of Preston; three grandchildren, Jeremy Smith, Katie Linton and Derek Murray; and seven great grandchildren. Special friends, Kerry & Cecelia Reese and Dovie Doyle also survived.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 28, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. from the Chapel of Swain Funeral Home with Rev. Alan Davis, Rev. Rick Brown and Rev. Fred Anderson officiating. Interment will follow in Omega Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Jeremy Smith, Carson Smith, Jim Linton, Mikie Taylor, Ronnie McCall and Marlowe Waters. 

A visitation will be one hour prior to the service at Swain Funeral Home.
