James Carl Tillman, age 89, of Baxley died Wednesday, December 9, 2015.
Mr. Tillman was born December 16, 1925 in Wayne County to the late James Herman Tillman and the late Effie O'Conner Tillman. He was a member of Ten Mile Creek Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon for over 50 years. Mr. Tillman was a World War II veteran of the United States Army and retired from the Baxley Fire Department and Appling County Emergency Medical Service. He was a 50 year member of the Holmesville Masonic Lodge 195 F&AM, Woodmen of the world and an avid fisherman.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Frankie Mae Tillman of Baxley; Three sons, Nathan Hale Tillman, James Reginald Tillman both of Baxley and David Anthony Tillman of Tucson, AZ; Sister, Vernadine James of Augusta; Six grandchildren, two great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Friday, December 11, 2015 from Ten Mile Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Tommy Daniels, Rev. Rick Brown and Rev. Jim Snell officiating.
Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery with Masonic Rites.
Visitation will be one hour prior to funeral service at the Church.
Active pallbearers are Dickie Tillman, Tracy Tillman, Brian Tillman, Dylan Hutchinson, Kyler Hutchinson and Gary Jones.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
