Jeanette Baxley

Jeanette Baxley passed away Thursday, March 6, at Appling Healthcare System.
Mrs. Baxley, 82, was a native of Appling County, the daughter of Olen J. and Nora Baxley. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Wilton Baxley of Baxley; four children, Marian Spears of Baxley, Marlyn Phillips of Monroe, GA., Marsha Massey of Decatur and Robert Baxley of Monroe, N.C.; nine grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; one great- great grandchild; a brother M.H. Baxley of Baxley; a sister Lynda Womble of Snellville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Baxley retired from the United State Army Civil Service in 1988. Her church home is Spring Branch Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. She was a founding Board member of the Appling County Heritage Center. Mrs. Baxley played basketball for Baxley High School at the time the team won three back-to-back State Championships with an unprecedented 109 consecutive wins.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 9, 2014 at 3:00 P.M. from Spring Branch Baptist Church with Rev. Tommy Daniels, Rev. Robert Wigley and Rev. Bryan Gill officiating.
Interment will follow in Carter Cemetery.
Active Pallbearers: Andy Massey, Carey Phillips, Jason Massey, Matthew Baxley, Brett Massey and Dustin Cotner.
Visitation will be Saturday evening 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at Swain Funeral Home.
