Jeanne Parker

October 11, 1942 — June 2, 2016

Helen Jeannette "Jeanne" Hutto Parker, United States Navy Veteran, loving wife, mother, and sister, passed away Thursday, June 2, 2016 at The Pavilion under the care of Comfort Care Hospice at the age of 73.

Mrs. Parker was born October 11, 1942 in Appling County to the late Ivey Sammy Hutto and the late Merlene Barber Hutto. She was a veteran of the United States Navy and a member of First Assembly of God. Mrs. Parker taught school for 24 years at various grade levels in various states and countries. She was a member of the Georgia Retired Teachers Association and the Appling County Retired Educators.

Survivors include her husband, Cloyd J. Parker of Baxley; daughter, Cynthia Nicole Drake of Elizabeth City, NC; son, Cloyd Garrett Parker of Baxley; grandchildren, Brady Garrett Parker of San Diego, CA, Michaela Drake of Elizabeth City, NC, Colby Joseph Parker of San Diego, CA, Harry R. Drake of Gulf Port, MS, Michael Drake of Fort Sill, OK, and Lucinda Leonardi of Biloxi, MS; sisters, Cathaleen Griffis of Odum, Mildred Fales of Hartsville, SC, Betty Jean McLeod of Hazlehurst, Sandra Gail Carter of Baxley, Bertie Sue Morin of Jacksonville, FL; brothers, Rev. Sammy Hutto of Jesup, William Russell Hutto and George Lamar Hutto both of Baxley. A host of nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. from First Assembly of God with Rev. Ronnie Rentz and Rev. Sammy Hutto officiating. Interment will follow in the Friendship Congregational Christian Church Cemetery with military honors.

Mrs. Parker will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.

Active pallbearers: Garrett Parker, Spencer Carter, Shane Carter, Lamar Hutto, Timothy Fales, & Kenan Jackson.

Honorary pallbearers: Members of the Appling Co. Retired Educators, Charles Coley, Nell Head, & Marilyn Landen.

Visitation will be held Monday, 6-8 p.m., at Swain Funeral Home.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
