Jeffrey Maurice Simmons

Jeffrey Maurice Simmons, age 59, of Baxley passed away Friday, October 27, 2023 at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Jesup.

Jeffrey was born May 13, 1964 in Douglas, Georgia. He was a member of Spring Branch Baptist Church but attended Dunn Memorial Baptist Church where he served as the sound technician. He was a lineman with Georgia Power Company for 40 years. He was an avid Georgia Football fan and loved spending Fall Saturdays between the hedges. Jeffrey was preceded in death by his mother, Sue Simmons.

Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Wendy Simmons of Baxley; sons, Cole (Addie) Simmons of Bogart and Connor (Claire) Simmons of St. Simons Island; father, Maurice Simmons of Baxley; sister, Rhonda Stone of Baxley; granddaughter, Ella Kathryn Simmons and one grandchild on the way.

Funeral services will be held Monday, October 30, 2023 at 4:00 p.m. at Dunn Memorial Baptist Church with Rev. Rick Brown and Rev. Shaun Lewis officiating.

Interment will follow in Zoar Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Heath Sellers, Woody Folsom, Jerome Murray, Jimmy Flood, Doug Sims, and Gene Thompkins.

Honorary pallbearers will be employees of Georgia Power Co.

Visitation will be Monday from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. at Dunn Memorial Baptist Church.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
