Jessie Louis "Joe" Crowley, age 82, of Baxley died Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at his residence.

Mr. Crowley was born January 17, 1932 in Liberty County and was the son of the late Leland Ross Crowley and the late Eva Ashmore Crowley. He was a member of the Fleming Baptist Church. Mr. Crowley was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from Appling County Road Department as a supervisor. He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Grace Crowley, 2 sons, Jerry Kersey and Ronnie Crowley.

Survivors include his Daughter & Son in Law, Debbie & Wendell Spell of Baxley; 1 sister & brother in law, Mary & Lawton Shumans of Richmond Hill; 3 brothers & sisters in law, Clarence & Joy Crowley, Paul & Margie Crowley both of Fleming and Clinton & Bobbie Crowley of Alabama; 1 grandchild, Lisa Fields & 2 great grandchildren, Matthew Fields and Sydney Fields. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Friday, February 28, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. from the Chapel of Swain Funeral Home with the Rev. David Herndon and Rev. Rick Brown officiating.

Interment will follow Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Fleming, Georgia at 3:00 P.M. with Military Honors.

Active Pallbearers: Matthew Fields, Bubba Crowley, John Crowley, David Bryant, Bill McGuire & Freddie McLain.

Honorary Pallbearers: Dr. Errol G. Graham & Staff, Comfort Care Hospice and Appling County Road Department.


Visitation will be Thursday evening 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at Swain Funeral Home.
