Johnny Earl Jones, 83, of Savannah, Georgia and husband of Katie Mae Lewis Jones, died Friday morning, December 22, 2017, at Memorial University Medical Center.

Born in Baxley, Georgia, he was a son of the late Doris Lee Jones and the late Dallie McDaniel Jones. Mr. Jones was a member of Calvary Baptist Temple where he was a member of the Encouragers Sunday School Class. He was a former Deacon and member of Landmark Missionary Baptist Church. Mr. Jones and his wife formerly owned and operated Savannah Printing, Effingham Printing and Hernandez Printing. He enjoyed hunting and fishing but his greatest enjoyment was spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald Jones and Tim Jones, and two brothers-in-law, Bennie Page and Charles Thompson.

Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Katie Mae Lewis Jones of Savannah, Georgia; one daughter, Kay Hardy and her husband, James B. “Buddy” Hardy III, of Rincon; one son, Glenn Jones and his wife, Lynda, of Savannah, Georgia; four grandchildren, Heather H. Shell, Allison H. Cordero and her husband, Jimmy, Meghan Newell and her husband, Daniel, and Dr. Blake Jones; four great-grandchildren, Staten Gregory Shell, Sutton Gray Shell, Ella Katherine “Ellakate” Cordero and Easton Hardy Cordero; three sisters, Shirley Page of Savannah, Georgia, Peggy Varnedore and her husband, Ronnie, of Baxley, Georgia, and Elouise Thompson of Fitzgerald, Georgia; two brothers, Ellis Jones and his wife, Frances, of Baxley, Georgia, and Jerry Jones and his wife, Lucretia, of Folkston, Georgia, and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o’clock Tuesday, December 26, 2017, at Gamble Funeral Service – 410 Stephenson Avenue.

The funeral service will be held at 10 o’clock Wednesday morning, December 27, 2017, at Calvary Baptist Temple conducted by The Reverend Kenny Grant and The Reverend B. Derward Poole, Jr. Interment will be at 3 o’clock Wednesday afternoon in Omega Cemetery in Baxley, Georgia.
