Johnny Wilson "J.W." Lewis

Johnny Wilson "J.W." Lewis , age 79, of Baxley died Monday morning, November 18, 2013 at the Appling Healthcare System.


Mr. Lewis was born March 3, 1934 in Jeff Davis County and was the son of the late John & Seenia Varnadore Lewis. He was a retired farmer and a member of Miles Chapel Baptist Church. Mr. Lewis served in the United State Air Force in the Korean War and was a member of the Veterans of America. He was preceded in death by 4 Sisters.


Survivors include his Wife, Laverne Griffin Lewis of Baxley; 4 Daughters, Patricia (Jimmy) Newton, Martha (Jackie) Strickland, Joan (Lonnie) Lightsey & Peggy (David) Taylor all of Baxley. 6 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, 2 step-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.


Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. from Miles Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Rogers and Rev. Doug Weisel officiating.


Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery.


Active Pallbearers are Tyler Griffin, Ryan Taylor, Shawn Nail, Richard Taylor, Stacy Sellers & Rusty Roberson.


Honorary Pallbearers are Mr. & Mrs. Danny Griffin, Mr. & Mrs. Randall Odum & Mr. & Mrs. Larry Odum, Mr. & Mrs. Harry Mosley, Mr. & Mrs. Huel Medders, Mr. & Mrs. Wilson Crapps, Dr. Errol Graham & Staff and all friends in attendance.


Visitation will be Tuesday evening 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at Swain Funeral Home.
