Johnny Carlton Nettles, Sr., age 60, of Baxley passed away Thursday, September 5, 2024 at his residence under the care of Hospice of South Georgia.
Mr. Nettles was born July 21, 1964 in Atlanta to the late Johnny Nettles and the late Myrtle Martin Nettles. He was a member of the Baxley Church of God and a retired truckdriver for Claxton Chicken. Mr. Nettles was a police officer for eleven years with the Baxley Police Department and he also served with Appling Co. EMA.
He is survived by his wife, Jody Nettles of Baxley; daughters, Angel Nettles and Christina (Garret) Crosby both of Baxley; and sons, Johnny (Sarah) Nettles, Jr., Rusty Bracewell, and Mason Herrin all of Baxley; sister, Wanda Strickland and Traci Nettles both of Baxley; brother, Mark Nettles of Clinton, Iowa; and three grandchildren, Mason Crosby, Maverick Crosby, and Aurora Starks also survive.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 7, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Swain Funeral Home with Mr. Danny Smith and Rev. Earl Wiggins officiating. Interment will follow in Zoar Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Mason Herrin, Rusty Bracewell, Cody Fearington, James Fennell, Jake Herrin and Travis Bell.
Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of Hospice of South Georgia.
The visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
