Joseph Raymond Herbert

Joseph Raymond Herbert, age 77, suffering with Alzheimer’s disease, went missing from his home in Mullica Township, NJ on November 30, 2011.

By the grace and mercy of God, his remains were found in February 2024 and his identity was confirmed June 10, 2024 after extensive examination by the New Jersey Medical Examiner’s office in Trenton, NJ.

Joseph, a former resident of Appling County, was an avid camper, hiker and outdoorsman who loved sharing those experiences with his family and friends.  He was a dedicated father, papa, uncle, brother, and friend.  He never met a stranger and treated everyone with acceptance and love.

Survivors include his daughter, Beverly Jo “BJ” (Dusty) Herndon of Baxley; grandchildren, David “Junior” (Heather) Miles and Brittney (Dylan) Householder; great grandchildren, Blayke, DaKoda, MalaKai and Joseph Elijah “Eli”. Many beloved nieces, nephews as well as those he called brothers and sisters.  Joseph was loved by everyone he met and is deeply missed by so many.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
