Joe Laney Gay, age 63, of Baxley passed away Tuesday, September 17, 2024 at his residence under the care of Community Hospice.
Laney was born June 23, 1961 in Appling County to the late Joe Lewis “J. L.” and the late Linda Carter Gay. He was a member of Riverside Baptist Church where he played the guitar for many years. He was a truck driver and the owner of L & Z Transport.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Tina Gay; sons, Jeremy Logan Gay Stringer and Zachary Dan Gay; grandchildren, Cambry Reanne Gay and Oakley Lewis Gay; sister-in-law, Amy (Ricky) Carter; nephews, Ian (Miranda) Carter and Austin “P-nut”(Kayla) Carter; great nephew and nieces, Ace Carter, Emilia Carter, and Charli Ann Carter; uncles, Lake Carter, L. C. Carter, and Lavelle Carter; best friend, Lynn Martin Warren; and goddaughter, Kasey Smith Dykes, and a host of cousins also survive.
Funeral services will be held Friday, September 20, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Riverside Baptist Church with Rev. Justin McLellan officiating.
Interment will follow in Riverside Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Thursday, September 19, 2024 in the Chapel of Swain Funeral Home from 6:00PM until 8:00PM.
Active pallbearers will be Ian Carter, Austin “P-Nut” Carter, Ross Norton, Michael Stone, Jason Carter, Chris Jones.
Honorary pallbearers will be Faith Builders Sunday School Class, Lisa Pearce, Paul and Michelle Fields, Stacey Mobley, Allen and Deanna Hoff, Daryl and Linda Dykes, and Fred and Dana Olvera.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
