Larry Eason Tillman, age 75, of Baxley passed away Sunday, October 25, 2020 at Candler Hospital in Savannah.
Mr. Tillman was born October 29, 1944 in Appling County to the late Henry Wallace Tillman and the late Daisy Crouch Tillman. He was a member of Baxley First United Methodist Church where he served in various leadership roles and was a former lay speaker and Sunday school teacher. He served as a Gideon and was a graduate of the class of 1963 of Appling County High School. He was a partner in Tillman Brothers since 1972, where he was involved in farming and timber production. He was a blueberry farmer and was formerly employed by Rayonier of Jesup and Selco Products of Baxley. Mr. Tillman also worked part time as a funeral assistant at Swain Funeral Home.
Larry’s most valued achievement was raising a Christian family. He loved his wife and family the way that Christ loved him. His legacy includes teaching his children and grandchildren to love and seek after Christ with all their hearts and to put others ahead of themselves. This quote by Clarence Budington Kelland said it best: “My father didn’t tell me how to live. He lived and let me watch him do it.” That is the man, husband, and father that Larry Tillman was.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Judy Lamb Tillman of Baxley; daughters & sons in law, Tiffany & Matt Murphy of Suwanee and April & Ty Sellers of Baxley; son & daughter in law, Derrick & Christy Tillman of Graham; and brother & sister in law, Wallace & Ann Tillman of St. Simons Island. Grandchildren, Josh & Hillary Ramos of Cumming, Jonathan & Kaitlyn Murphy of Canton, Tyler Murphy of Suwanee, Lauren Sellers of Roswell, Maria Sellers of Beckley, WV, Erica Tillman and Caleb Tillman both of Graham; and one great grandchild, Liam Ramos of Cumming also survive.
