Laverne Rouse Deen

Laverne Rouse Deen, age 87, of Baxley passed away Monday, December 16, 2024 at the Pavilion under the care of Hospice of South Georgia.

Mrs. Deen was born May 20, 1937 in Ware County to the late Holton Rouse and the late Fannie James Rouse. She was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy and was a retired paraprofessional with the Appling County Board of Education. 

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Deen was preceded in death by her husband, Mickey Deen, and a son-in-law, Jamie Hutcheson. 

Survivors include her daughter, Stephanie Deen Hutcheson of Baxley; son, Stan (Theresa) Deen of Baxley; brothers, Gene Rouse of Jesup and Don Rouse of Baxley. Four grandchildren, Morgan (Cole) Rentz, Amanda Hutcheson, Haley (Brett) Hand, Aaron (Chloe) Deen; three great-grandchildren, Brynlee Hand, Beckett Rentz, and Anna Cate Deen; and a special caregiver, Sarah “Prissy” Smith.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, December 18, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Omega Cemetery with Rev. Dannie Hix and Rev. Lamar Lee officiating. 

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
