Lewis Cooper

Lewis Cooper, age 68, of Hazlehurst passed away Saturday, December 24, 2022 at UF Health in Jacksonville, Florida.

Lewis was born December 10, 1954 in Hazlehurst. He was preceded in death by his parents, Irvin Cooper and Rosie & Mitch Humphrey, and brothers, Mack Cooper and Roy Lee Cooper.

Survivors include his wife, Rose Cooper of Hazlehurst; daughters, Sally Roussell, Valerie (Todd) Ussery, and Marti Cooper (fiancé, Corey Hall) all of Hazlehurst; son, Jeremy (Jamie) Cooper of Hubert, NC; sisters, Dale (Darren) Ellis of Hazlehurst and Sherry (Jeff) Berryhill of McRae; brothers, Mitchell (Resa) Humphrey and Charles Humphrey both of Hazlehurst; father-in-law, A. B. Dykes of Blackshear; grandchildren, Abraham Reynolds, Chase Ussery, Kyleigh-Grace Ussery, Zack Ussery, Sarah Cooper, Mason Cooper, Hayden Cooper, Hadleigh Cooper, Cade Hall, and Caroline Hall. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Hillcrest Baptist Church with Rev. Joey Andrews officiating and an eulogy will be rendered by Chris Reynolds. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be his nephews: Lance Ellis, Dustin Ellis, Victor Cooper, Dylan Berryhill, Travis Spivey, and Greg Taylor.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at Hillcrest Baptist Church.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
