Lucy Overstreet

Lucy Overstreet, age 60, of Baxley passed away Sunday, December 13, 2015 in Memorial Hospital of Jacksonville, Florida.

She was born July 15, 1955 and was a native and lifelong resident of Appling County. Mrs. Overstreet was a member of Hopewell United Methodist Church where she served as the Pianist for 51 years. She retired from Peoples State Bank & Trust as a Book Keeping Supervisor. Mrs. Overstreet was preceded in death by her parents, Carl Alexander Doke and Mary Levenia Courson Doke; a sister, Dennie Kersey and two brothers, Bill Shipes and Jimmy Shipes.

Survivors include her husband, Dale Overstreet of Baxley; Daughter, Jessica Dixon of Baxley; Son, Nicholas Overstreet & wife, Jennifer of Alma; 2 sisters, Brenda Love & Diane Wilson of Texas; 3 brothers, Wadis Shipes, Bob Shipes & David Shipes all of Baxley; 4 grandchildren, Ashton Dixon, Jed Dixon, Knox Overstreet & Maddox Overstreet.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Swain Funeral Home with Rev. Rick Brown, Rev. Charles "Buddy" Coss and Rev. Thurman "Pet" Hayes officiating.

Entombment will follow in Hopewell United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday evening 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Swain Funeral Home.
