Malzie Olivia (Ellis) Cleland

Malzie Olvia Ellis Cleland, age 87, of Baxley passed away Sunday, February 27, 2022 at the Pavilion.

Mrs. Cleland was born February 1, 1935 in Hazlehurst to the late Clarence Ellis, Sr. and the late Ora Belle Dixon Ellis. She was a seamstress and a homemaker. Mrs. Cleland was an active member of Friendship Congregational Christian Church, where she was the Ladies’ Sunday School teacher and a member of the YAH Group. She was also a member and past president of the Jaycettes.

Survivors include her husband of 70 years, Mike Cleland of Baxley; daughter & son-in-law, Debbie & Wendell Bullard of McRae; son & daughter-in-law, Eddie & Shea Cleland of Baxley; five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and a special caregiver, Mrs. Sylvia Harris.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. at Friendship Congregational Christian Church with Rev. Barry Teutsch, Rev. Wayne Williamson, and Rev. Thomas Lawrence officiating. Interment will follow in Baxley Graveyard.

Active pallbearers will be Michael Hollis Bullard, Michael Robert Cleland, Chad Edward Cleland, Justin Layne Parker, William Cody Parker, and Branden Maddox Parker.

Honorary pallbearers will be the B-Hall Staff of the Pavilion, Madison Jowers, and all friends in attendance.

Visitation will be Tuesday, March 1, 2022 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Friendship Congregational Christian Church.
