Margaret W. Carter, age 85, of Baxley died Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at St. Vincent's Riverside Medical Center in Jacksonville, Florida.
Mrs. Carter was born July 21, 1936 in Hazlehurst to the late John Benjamin Williams and the late Ollie Mae Rowell Williams. She was a homemaker, beloved wife, and a wonderful mother and grandmother. She was a member of Spring Branch Baptist Church where she was also in the Senior Ladies Sunday School Class. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Carter was preceded in death by her sister, Caroldean Crosby; and two brothers, Bartow Williams, and Roosevelt Williams.
Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Wendell Carter of Baxley; daughters and sons-in-laws, Kay & Roy Williamson and Rita Carter & Dell Ray all of Baxley; sons and daughter-in-law, Joel & Samantha Carter and Earl Carter all of Baxley; sister and brother-in-law, Rosene & L.C. Carter of Baxley; brothers and sister-in-law, George Williams of Hortense and David & Mildred Williams of Surrency; close family friend, Patsy Baxley of Baxley; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren also survive.
A Drive-in Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. in The Field at Spring Branch Baptist Church with Rev. Rick Brown and Rev. Chuck Lewis officiating and a eulogy given by Justin Williamson. A private committal service will be held later at Carter Cemetery.
Active Pallbearers will be Jason Carter, Darby Carter, Grayson Carter, Reagan Carter, Justin Williamson, Brandon Williamson, and Anson Williamson.
Honorary pallbearers will be all friends in attendance.
