Margie Lanier Brown, age 102, of Baxley died Sunday, June 19, 2016 at her residence under the care of Comfort Care Hospice.
Mrs. Brown was born April 16, 1914 in Candler County, GA to the late Thomas Zebedee and Audrie Brooke Lanier. She was a member of First Baptist Church and the Esther Sunday School Class. Mrs. Brown was past president of both the P.T.A. and the Pine Forest Garden Club, a member of the Appling County Heritage Center and the Appling County Arts Council, and was the office manager of Dr. J. B. Brown's office for many years. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. J. B. Brown, Jr., brothers, T. Z. Lanier and William L. Lanier; sisters, Mattie Lanier, Maggie Spivey, Myrtice Lanier and Mary Lanier.
Survivors include sons, J. Bryan (Janice) Brown, III of Dunwoody and William Lanier (Luck) Brown, Sr. of Charlotte, NC; sister, Marie Kemp of Savannah; sisters in law, Edna Lanier and Jean Lanier; grandchildren, Lanier (Ashley) Brown, Jess (Jennifer) Brown, and Audrey (Scott) Dickison; great grandchildren, Wheeler, Effie, Logan, Vaughn, Claire, Bennett and Anna Kate Brown, Billy and Sidney Dickison; step grandchildren, Brooke (William) Garrow and Brandon (Heather) Williams; step great grandchildren, Alex & Meghan Garrow and Payton Williams. Many nieces and nephews and their families also survive.
Her family holds special regards to long time caretakers, Kathy Soloman, Angie Green, Sylvia Harris, Annette Garrett, Etha Jean Carter, Linda Hall, Jill Roberson and Helen Carter and also Comfort Care Hospice.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 25, at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church with Rev. Scott Dickison and Rev. Robert Wigley officiating.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service at the church.
Interment will follow at Rosemary Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Metter at 3:00 PM.
Active pallbearers are Wendell Carter, Tommy Lanier, Jimmy Lanier, Lynn Lanier.
Honorary pallbearers are the Esther Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church, Charles Brown, Doug Doyle, Larry Varnadoe, Connie Miles, Ira Poole, Jimmy Jett, Robert Collins, John Kemp, Kenny Kemp and Billy Lewis.
Remembrances may be made to the First Baptist Church, 15 North Main Street, Baxley, GA 31513
