Marilyn Lightsey

Marilyn Lightsey, age 80, of Baxley passed away Friday, June 7, 2024 at Hazlehurst Court Care & Rehabilitation.

Mrs. Lightsey was born April 9, 1944 in Appling County to the late Phillip Woodrow Lightsey and the late Evelyn Lightsey. She was formerly employed at Sea Pack and Captain Joe’s and was a member of the Church of God in Dublin. She loved to write songs, fish and being outdoors watching birds, squirrels and enjoying her flowers. Mrs. Lightsey was preceded in death by her son, Ricky Foster.

Survivors include her daughter, Linda Sue (Paul) Crawford of Covington, son, Mack I. Foster of Baxley; sisters, Carolyn Lightsey of Baxley, Bonnie Deas of Raleigh, NC, Bobby Lightsey and Peggy Theus both of Baxley; Patsy Hilbun of Dublin and Sara Rogers of Bowman, SC; brothers, Robert Lightsey of Baxley, Ed Lightsey of Orlando, FL, Jesse Lightsey of Surrency and David Lightsey of Milledgeville. Three grandsons, Daniel Lee Hewett, Dustin Scott (Shawnna) Hewett and Ronnie Foster also survive.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Appling Memorial Gardens with Elder Jerry Lightsey officiating.

Honorary pallbearers will be her brothers and sisters.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
