Mary Jane Godfrey Clarke

September 22, 1943 – January 14, 2022

Mary Jane Godfrey Clarke, 78, of Thomasville, GA, passed away at Legacy Village at Plantation Manor, Thomasville, GA, on Friday, January 14, 2022.  She will be interred in Omega Cemetery, Baxley, GA.  A graveside memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 27, 2022, at 11:00 AM.   Pastor Johnny H. Moore will officiate.

Mrs. Clarke was born on September 22, 1943, in Ludowici, GA, to the late Jack Godfrey and Mary Brigman Godfrey.  She was of the Baptist faith.  She was a retired teacher from Chatham County Schools where she was a Kindergarten teacher for most of her career. During retirement she continued working with children as a volunteer for CASA. She loved her dog, Lady Mincy, and was an alumni and huge fan of the University of Georgia and enjoyed attending UGA football games in Athens with her family for many years.

Survivors include: children, Julie Barrineau (Myron) of Whigham, GA, Jon Clarke (Jeannie) of King of Prussia, PA; grandchildren, Ellie Jane Barrineau of Whigham, GA, Emily McKiernan Clarke, Sean Clarke, both of King of Prussia, PA; sister, Judy Ennis (Eddie) of Macon, GA; and a brother, Jack Godfrey (Jo) of Townsend, GA and a host of nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents.
