Mary Lynn Oliver

June 8, 1944 — December 31, 2020

Mary Lynn Oliver, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2020 at Pruitt Health Bethany in Millen, Georgia at the age of 76.

Mary Lynn was born in Waycross, GA to Lennie “Lynn” Arminda Brown Oliver Fisher and Anthony Samuel Oliver on June 8, 1944.  She was the granddaughter of John Matthew “JM” Brown and Lavinia Crapps Brown of Alma, GA.  Mary Lynn was a child of God, who was fearfully and wonderfully made by Him.   Mary Lynn lived with her parents until the age of 6 and then lived at Gracewood State School and Hospital in Augusta for 50 years.  Mary then transitioned to living in a group home for the intellectually disabled in Macon, GA and then in Statesboro, GA.  She eventually resided at Pruitt Health Bethany in Millen, GA.

Mary was non-verbal for most of her life but communicated through her body language, eye contact, facial expressions and through making sounds.  Mary loved being active, walking around and jumping up and down in her environment, even in her later years.  She loved eating chocolate and other sweets.  Her favorite possessions were her stuffed animals and toy rattles that she frequently held in her hands.   Mary was loved by her family and many of the staff who cared for her over the years.  Her care was overseen by her cousins/legal guardians  Geraldine Quinn Ursrey, Lawton, Randall Ursrey II and eventually, Caroline Ursrey Bowman, her last successor guardian.

She was preceeded in death by her parents, grandparents, many aunts and uncles and cousins.

She was survived by her cousins Caroline Ursrey (Kevin) Bowman, Carter and Madeline Bowman, Lawton and Maggie Ursrey, Linda Ursrey Ruff, Jean Whitaker Lewis, Fran  Sullivan, Michael Lewis, Jennifer Bullard and Millie Gage,   Jerry(Libby) Ursrey, Jennifer(David) Mixon, and Christa Miller.

Mary Lynn made a lasting impact on her family and caregivers and taught them to love unconditionally like Jesus did.

A private graveside service will be held on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at Rose Hill Cemetery in Alma, GA.
